Accommodation Tips
As the statistics show many people are looking to take private accommodation. As opposed to hotels and shared tour operator chalets. Our resorts (Chamonix, Megeve, St Gervais, Les Contamines) are fortunate to have a very large volume of private accommodation options available.
From apartments and studios, to private chalets. Many private properties are available through the well known platforms like expedia and air bnb. Therefore, instead of covering the already well known. We have some different tips on platforms that have hand picked properties available. Including customer service who personally know the properties and locations. So, hopefully these tips can expand your options with some quality providers.
Here are our recommendations
Chalet Crespin
A beautiful private chalet (pictured above) ideally placed for a luxury mountain escape. Which is only a 2 minute walk from the telecabine of the St Gervais/Megeve ski area. As well as the shops, bars and restaurants of the magical alpine town.

Last Minute Travel Tips
Ok, so with people making last minute movements this winter, it will be wise to be prepared. Which leads me to the obvious increase in people that are planning on driving to the alps this winter. There are some great perks to driving; Its a lot easier to organise last minute, you can take whatever luggage and equipment you wish, you’ll have your own transport in resort, and believe it or not its greener than flying.
Driving To The Alps
The Golden Ticket
One simple way to make driving to the alps more convenient is to get the electronic toll tag. Because it allows you to drive straight through the tolls without stopping.

Airports
This may seem ridiculous to say considering the sentiment out there, but hang on. Of course airports and flights will still be available when we’re allowed to move in the near term, but with obvious requirements. And perhaps running reduced schedules from certain airports. As soon as we know what the requirements are in the coming weeks, we will publish them, regularly. One thing that is very likely to become more common, is that testing at airports or beforehand may come into place as a requirement to fly/travel and reduce general restrictions upon population.
By example – Luxembourg Airport have stated the following:
“The COVID-19 test station at Luxembourg airport was one of the first airport test stations in Europe. It opened directly with the first scheduled flights on May 29th. Upon arrival, passengers receive a test voucher that can be used at the airport test station or in one of the indicated laboratories. The test is non-obligatory and free of charge.”
However in contrast to that – Geneva Airport during November stated the following:
“To date, the FOPH has not asked Swiss airports to set up tests for Covid-19 (so-called PCR) on arrival.”
As that is a comical contrast of approach, we speculate that airports will begin to align with testing processes in the coming month. Because some airports already have this in place, as experienced by anyone that has been travelling for business during this period.
There are examples where customs controls that have required people may take an approved test less than 72hrs of travel, and by simply presenting the documentation, pass the requirement.
The French Ministry For European Foreign Affairs currently state:
“Any person arriving in France from a country outside the European area must present a biological virological screening examination carried out less than 72 hours before the flight.”
As mentioned, we’re expecting to see airports and European customs begin to align their testing processes in the coming month. We will keep up to date and informed about the imminent changes that will occur. As always, in the daily evolving process, it will be important to verify the requirements with the airports and government authority websites.
